Today we got the following email:

“I loved what you had to say too about German girls.:-)  I visited Munich
back in 2000 and was flabergasted at the sight of soo many beautiful
women!!!:-)

The worlds most beautiful women hands down are GERMAN WOMEN!!!!”

We asked ourselves, why he didn’t post it as comment? Maybe he’d like to stay anonymus? You can – even when you post a comment. As long as it no nonsense or spam, we promise not to delete!

German women rock, I’ve been married to one for over a decade, so I’m biased. If I had to do it all over again, I’d choose a “average” Frauline over a hot chick anyday. They know how to treat their men, don’t play mind games, and actually know how save and not blow all your $$ while you are deployed

What makes you think that you know everything about germans? Well you know what, have you meet every german in the world? I think not. You seem to be the racist prick that lives their life downsizing everybody else when you’re the one trying to hide something. If you’ve got a problem with germans, fine thats your opinion, but keep it to yourself. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean that they’ll go away or that people will even listen to you. If you don’t like them then don’t associate with them. Not every German is like your falsified view/opinion.
It seems that you’re the only one that needs to get over yourself.

This is a very interesting and much-needed website. My hat is off to the creator(s) of this site. Gut gemacht!

I find stereotypes to be a shortcut to thinking and therefore quite harmful to a person’s intellectual growth. They have a limiting effect on a person’s mind and are quite often wrong and invalid.

My personal Weltanschauung includes the following suggestions: Evaluate a person as an individual and not as a group. Draw your own conclusions. Meet new people, try different kinds of foods and listen to different kinds of music. Don’t limit yourself, but expand your horizons. Avoid dangerous and wasteful persuits which have destroyed others. Learn from the mistakes of others.

Stereotypes are just wrong. They have no place in the mind of a thinking person.

I’ve found many Germans to have wonderful senses of humor, sharp minds and many of them have been kind, generous and very pleasant to be with.

The best beer and bread I’ve ever tasted has come from Germany…and yes, many of their women are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

One should never be fauted for being intelligent, educated, thourough, practical or cultured. Only the dull and jealous will recken these as faults to be avoided.

Thank you Timotheus. A voice of reason.
Unfortunately I’d say “much-needed” is a bit of a stretch. This website has an article attempting to discuss the rudeness stereotype. Sadly it has attracted over 600 comments, and most of them showed the same rudeness they attempt to condemn. Some of them were just cruel and downright insulting. Two wrongs do not make a right.
I’ve never been to Germany before, so I don’t have any credentials besides an anthropology study. I have, though, read lots of success stories of tourists and expats loving the place and its people, and even reflected on the differences.
But the point stands: if you use your own culture to judge people of another culture without studying that culture’s values, you won’t be able to travel well because you wouldn’t know the differences. By the looks of it, some of those commentators were ignorant of the cultural norms and values, while others were just plain unlucky.
Even so, thanks for sharing your wonderful experiences.
